Kafka has a good throughput with sequential Writes and Reads.
Kafka can move a lot of data because of the zero copy read principle:
Before:
- Disc to OS buffer
- Write the content of the OS buffer to the RAM
- Copy the data to the application Buffer
- Copy the data back to the socket buffer
- Copy the data from the socket to the Network Interface Chip buffer and send it
With zero-copy read principle:
- Read from the disc and load it into the OS Buffer
- Directly copy to the NIC Buffer (the CPU is not involved)

They absorb the most energy when they have the least in them. And as they get closer and closer to full, they can't absorb quite as efficiently and then there is some excess lost.
and
batteries degrades over time
Causes of degradation:
- Heat ruins the battery (high impact)
- Charging cycles
- Time (slow impact)
How to charge the phone without generating extra heat ?
- Power breaks generating heat are now near the electrical socket
- the battery is divided by two
- adding more cooling hardware
→ heat problem is covered in normal situations
So what counts ?
- around 80% battery health after 800 charges (but we don't have long-term data about these new fast charges)
Announcement for 2022 from a tech company: 80% battery health after 1600 charges.
For ASUS laptops
Hum hum hum, bien joué !
Vers l'USB-C

That way in a moment of full-disk crisis I can simply delete it and buy myself some critical time to debug and fix the problem. 8GB is a significant amount of space, but storage is cheap enough these days that hoarding that much space is basically unnoticeable... until I really need it.

It seems to be a threat actor as the final firmware update was in 2015.
Lesson ? Always have an offline backup !
A definitely good reading. Why have they better perfornance than HDD ? Some explications here 👍
Note: an SSD is fast and efficient if there is free space on it.
TL;DR; it means with SD cards that it is dead and is in a sort of read-only mode.
BackBlaze is a large data hosting company. So they buy large quantities of hard disks of different brands and models. And of course when it fails they replace them. The interesting thing is that they publish their statistics regularly, which gives you a good idea of the reliability of the models of the different hard disk manufacturers. They have only kept in the statistics the models that they have at least in 60 copies.
They also compare HDD and SSD failures over the period: SSDs have far fewer failures! That said, you have to take into account the age of the elements: Their HDDs have an average age of 49.6 months, and SSDs 12.7 months. So we'll see over time how well they hold up.

Le chargeur sur smartphone sera maintenant unique ! Il s'agira de l'USB-C 👍
