Donc AWS vient de sortir un système de fichiers sur le réseau dans un bucket. C'est plutôt S3 qui manquait de spécification afin d'être. Une fonctionnalité manquante depuis des années.

Les objets S3 sont accessibles « sous forme de fichiers et de répertoires, prenant en charge toutes les opérations du Network File System (NFS) v4.1 + telles que la création, la lecture, la mise à jour et la suppression de fichiers ». Amazon ajoute que « S3 Files utilise les permissions POSIX pour les fichiers et les répertoires ».

• Mountpoint-S3 (Un remake de S3FS par AWS)
• JuiceFS (utilise S3 pour stocker les blocs des fichiers)

Le prix d'utilisation me semble cependant plus cher que du stockage S3 classique.

In comparison, AWS costs between 2 500$ to 3 500$.

The point here is that there’s value in managing your own servers VS just accepting the cloud as a given truth.

and people trying to convince you that "the cloud" is the solution never tried alternatives.

How did we get there?

The majority of devs are clueless or have forgotten. AWS started to give credits specifically for startups only. The entry is cheap, but the costs become expensive as they grow. They are locked-in so they will struggle to migrate to another architecture.

The cloud is only an option between others. "Most businesses are and will always be small, by a simple rule of power law."

Here’s a reference point: my current two-server setup serves millions of requests a day for millions of monthly visitors.

Managing your own server is fine because there has never been a better time to get good at servers. AI are very knowledgeable on Linux.

Signal is currently experiencing an outage. As a result, users are unable to send or receive messages.

AWS has issue and many services on the Internet depends on it. Snapchat and Canva are also impacted.
